OK. Sketches are completed. Pencils done, adjusted, and inked over. Pencils erased. Now we have a clean inked sketch ready for coloring.
This is the step that always stopped me before.
I could crank out sketches like crazy, and the inks took a little longer, but then the hard part. Erasing all the pencils, and trying to color. I didn't have access to much material, so trying to learn how to do it right, and not waste markers and original pages, was a nightmare. It took me hours to fill in colors, trying to be careful so it doesn't bleed through, or just destroy the paper, etc. And if it didn't come out right, I didn't have time to do it all over. So, a lot of my stuff ended up stuck at line drawings, and then just stuck at pencils after I started working full-time 25 years ago.
But now, computers have gotten so good at doing it digitally. I see others doing incredible things with digital art. And I have always been yearning to get back into my art. I've got my graphics tablet, and Manga Studio EX 5, so I am all set there. I'll still do pencils and inks by hand first, then scan and color on the computer. I'll be playing around with doing the pencils and inks on the computer, but that won't be for a while.

Switched to iPad Pro 12.9inch 2017 model
Well, tried the Surface Pro 3 for almost 3 years now, but couldn't make it work better for me. While it was great for drawing, I didn't have the time to do it consistently or regularly. Most times, when inspiration hits, the SurfacePro 3 was either dead or almost dead battery. Boot-up wasn't a big deal, maybe wait two minutes for time from boot to opening Clip Studio to ready to draw, but that also did cut into the creative mood.
So, now, I allow myself a new device every 3 years or so, so I waited for the new iPad Pro. When I saw these first come out last year, I thought about getting one, but held off. I wanted to give my SP3 another chanc
Surface Pro 3
Okay. I finally did it. After playing with the original Microsoft Surface Pro, I was keeping it in mind as my next purchase. I was captivated with the active stylus (Wacom). At last, something to help me try to make some better art. But alas, no money to buy it. Then the Surface Pro 2 came out, with better specs, but still no money to buy it. Then the Surface Pro 3 came out, and after waiting so long since the first one came out, I decided it was time. The specs of the new machine were so much better, now with an N-Trig, which seems to work much better, especially with Magna Studio EX 5.
I'm loving it.
Now I have to learn more about the too
Nexus 7 and Sketchbook Pro
Well, the work on my Nexus 7 tablet and Sketchbook Pro seems to be working well. Just took another stab at coloring and its a good start. I still have a lot to learn about coloring and shading, but doing it this way is so much easier than before.
Stupid Me!
I am an idiot.
I totally ignored the fact that I have a touchscreen tablet (Google Nexus 7) and Autodesk Sketchbook Pro. I was so focused on using my PC (with graphics tablet and Manga Studio EX 5) that I forgot about my tablet. I was thinking about how hard it will be to touch up and color using the tablet, looking up and looking down, and hoping I could do it right, when I had a much easier touch solution right next to me.
So, took a quick stab at it. Had to re-save my file as a GIF because the lossy JPG was not taking very well to color fills.
Touch up all the edges so the colors don't bleed out. Choosing a color that hopefully looks ok
